USGA/PGA of America Rules Workshop Conducted in Lexington

From February 21-24, Marriott's Griffin Gate Resort hosted a USGA/PGA of America Rules of Golf Workshop, with participants from across the United States.  Among participants were Rules Officials from within Kentucky's family of golf organizations, KPGA Professionals, and KGA-PGA, Inc. staff.  These workshops are a collaborative effort by the USGA and PGA of America, and are conducted in various cities across the United States each year.  View More

Kentucky Golf Foundation Announces Third Year of the Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant Program

The Kentucky Golf Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the third year of the Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant Program. The program was born from the vision and support of friends of Mr. Brewer, each of whom wanted to create a means in which to honor his legacy and to support junior golfers in Kentucky with the dream of playing golf at the college level and beyond. The purpose of the program is to offer financial assistance to junior golfers from Kentucky with the ability to compete in junior golf competitions at the regional and national level, but, are limited in their ability to do so due to financial constraints. A total of six grants in the amount of $2,000 each ($12,000 total) will be awarded this year.

KGA Member Play Days for 2010 Scheduled

The Kentucky Golf Association is pleased to announce the second year of the KGA Member Play Days, which are 18 hole events featuring a Stableford (net) format. Three events have been scheduled for 2010: Tuesday, April 6 at The Club at Olde Stone, Monday, June 28 at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club and Thursday, September 30 at Big Spring Country Club.  The entry fee for each event is $70, which includes golf, cart, range, and a continental breakfast.  Participation is limited to individuals currently enrolled in the Kentucky Golf Association Members Program and to current members of the Kentucky Senior Golf Association. An active GHIN account from a KGA Member Club is also required.

University of Kentucky Professor Named Recipient of 2010 USGA Green Section Award

Kentucky's family of golf organizations congratulate University of Kentucky Professor Dr. Daniel Potter for being honored with the 2010 United States Golf Association (USGA) Green Section Award. The award is presented annually by the USGA to recognize individuals who exemplify outstanding contributions and dedication to the game of golf through their work with turfgrass.

Kentucky's Family of Golf Organizations Welcomes New Team Member

Kentucky's family of golf organizations are pleased to introduce Andy Ziegler of Sandusky, Ohio as the Junior Golf & Tournament Operations Assistant. Andy, who began service on February 1, is a 2007 graduate of Bowling Green State University, where he received a B.S. in Education.  Among his duties will be to provide assistance with our extensive junior golf and tournament operations efforts with the Kentucky Golf Association, Kentucky Section PGA, and Kentucky Senior Golf Association. We are happy to welcome him to the staff team at Golf House Kentucky.
